The Tenth Anniversary of Network Cultures was celebrated in 1997 together with many many friends. It will remain a landmark in our short history. We keep in our hearts and in our minds very dear memories of so many faces, thoughts and challenges.

This issue presents the new project (1998-2000) which our Network is collectively engaging into and which deals with " Cultures, Conflicts and Citizenship ". It also offers our friend Durre Sameen Ahmed's beautiful and challenging key-note address on " Globalization and the Vitality of Cultures " as well as extracts from speeches by Sulak Sivaraksa and by Riccardo Petrella.

We are happy to present a summary of the synthesis of ten years of reflection within Network Cultures at the end of this issue. Our readers are welcome to react. This would be a wonderful birthday present !
